why we dig this project

Our suburbs don't have to be just lawns and fences. We believe in gardens buzzing with native bees, banksias that feed our beloved White-tailed Black Cockatoos and veggie patches in every backyard.

The Pally Seed Library is our way of making
that happen, one seed at a time.

our story

Palmyra Seed Library began with a bike and a box of seeds made possible by the City of Melville Robin Hood Grant.
Now we share seeds, stories, and advice —helping our community grow food, gardens, and connections.

Tromboncino [a variety of Zuchini]

This month’s star seed is the intriguing Tromboncino - a striking Italian heirloom squash from Liguria. Due to its trumpet-like shape, it became known as the “little trumpet” in Italian, zucchino trombetta or climbing crookneck.

Young & tender - it tastes like a sweeter, softer zucchini.

Left to mature, it develops into a pumpkin, like squash and butternut, just a little lighter.
